„With small sculptures you have to put in a little effort, but with large ones it’s difficult. And then there’s the dust. However, it doesn’t matter to me because I’m absorbed in work. Once, in Aswan, I carved a work weighing several tons in 40-degree heat for two and a half months. I didn’t feel it at all. Only my friends arrived and I saw terror in their eyes: chisels and machines at work, noise and dust.”

Beata Czapska born in Poland, where she completes her studies and receives a diploma at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology (1981). He studies at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and also in the studio of the sculptor Coutelle in Paris. He has been working as an independent architect for thirteen years. Designs and implements: residential buildings (Meulun-Senart, Evry, Nancy); villas (Provance, Paris Region, Majorca); interiors (shop on rue Odeon, apartment on rue du Plateau – Paris); stands for fashion fairs in Paris, designs posters, makes wall paintings. In the Cacoub studio in Paris, he works on interior decoration projects: Party House – Côte d’Ivoire, hotels in the Azores: Aqua Alto and Vista do Rey. In the Bezançon studio, he works on the design and implementation of leisure complexes in Brittany (Arzon le Crouesty) and Vandea (Bourgenay). Working with the American sculptor, Michael Prentice designs and implements: a granite fountain (650 m2) in Puteaux (France); furniture; office equipment; lamps; interior decorations. Simultaneously with his sculptural work, he continues to work in design. Working with Kim Moltzer, he develops a fountain design for the city of New York and creates a sculpture for the Salon of Garden Art in Paris. He has been exhibiting since 1992. The artist’s works are in private collections in France, Poland, the USA, Great Britain, Israel, Belgium, Luxembourg, Morocco, Germany and Israel.

“A breakthrough year for me was 1980. It was then that I seriously devoted myself to sculpture, when I accidentally met the French sculptor René Coutelle. It was he who interested me… in literature and through new readings and conversations with René, I decided to devote myself to this art – recalls the artist in “Cultural Evening with Jedynką””.

„Przy małych rzeźbach trzeba się trochę namachać, a przy dużych jest już ciężko. No i jeszcze kurz. Dla mnie to jednak nieistotne, bo jestem pochłonięta pracą. Kiedyś w Asuanie rzeźbiłam przez dwa i pół miesiąca w czterdziestostopniowym upale kilkunastotonową pracę. W ogóle tego nie czułam. Dopiero znajomi przyjechali i zobaczyłam w ich oczach przerażenie: dłuta i maszyny w robocie, huk i kurz.”

Beata Czapska – urodzona w Polsce, gdzie kończy studia i otrzymuje dyplom na Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Śląskiej (1981 r). Studiuje w École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts w Paryżu i również w pracowni rzeźbiarza Coutelle w Paryżu. Przez trzynaście lat wykonuje zawód niezależnego architekta. Projektuje i realizuje: budynki mieszkalne (Meulun-Senart, Evry, Nancy); wille (Provansja, Region Paryski, Majorka); wnętrza (sklep przy ulicy Odeon, mieszkanie przy ulicy du Plateau – Paryż); stoiska na targi mody w Paryżu, projektuje plakaty, wykonuje malowidła ścienne. W pracowni Cacoub w Paryżu pracuje nad projektami dekoracji wnętrz: Dom Partii – Wybrzeże Kości Słoniowej, hotele na Azorach: Aqua Alto i Vista do Rey. W pracowni Bezançon pracuje nad projektami i realizacją zespołów wypoczynkowych w Bretanii (Arzon le Crouesty) i w Vandei (Bourgenay). Współpracując z amerykańskim rzeźbiarzem Michael Prentice projektuje i realizuje: fontannę z granitu (650 m2) w Puteaux (Francja); meble; urządzenia biurowe; lampy; dekoracje wnętrz. Równocześnie z pracą rzeźbiarską kontynuuje pracę w designie. Współpracując z Kim Moltzer opracowuje projekt fontanny dla miasta New York oraz realizuje rzeźbę na Salon Sztuki Ogrodowej w Paryżu. Wystawia od 1992 roku. Prace artystki znajdują się w kolekcjach prywatnych we Francji, Polsce, USA, Wielkiej Brytanii, Izraelu, Belgii, Luxemburgu, Maroku i Niemczech, Izraelu.

„Przełomowym rokiem był dla mnie 1980. To wtedy na poważnie poświeciłam się rzeźbie, gdy przez przypadek poznałam francuskiego rzeźbiarza René Coutelle’a. To on zainteresował mnie… literaturą i poprzez nowe lektury i rozmowy z René, postanowiłam poświęcić się tej sztuce – wspomina artystka w “Kulturalnym Wieczorze z Jedynką” ”.
