Krzysztof Wiśniewski
„I think a painter should paint not only what he sees in front of him, but what he sees in himself. That is why in my paintings I try to create an undefined, melancholic longing for the distant past.”
(Krzysztof Wiśniewski)
Krzysztof Wiśniewski b. April 15, 1960 in Chełmża. He has been living in Lipno for many years. Teacher. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. He studied painting with the professor of visual artist Mieczysław Ziomek, and drawing with Jędrzej Gołaś.
He is a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers in Toruń. Artistically associated with a group of painters who practice the so-called “Magical Dreams”.
\At the end of the 90s, he sheds the “costume” of classical landscape painting, meandering, as he himself calls it, towards “beksism”. He quickly leaves this trend and begins to create surreal compositions in the spirit of romantic painting. Since then, his paintings are characterized by a deep poetic metaphor.
It is noticeable that Wiśniewski often uses a palette of blue, violet, pink, etc. His color, combined with his favorite props, is to be always symbolic.
“My blue color is not only a perspective color, a color that does not penetrate into the depth, but draws into the distance. Blue and green together become spiritual, refer to the moment of the past and the future, they match the restless, longing sensitivity and loneliness. On the other hand, a series of figures, simply put, is a determinant that emphasizes the uncertainty of the passing time and a specific game of human fate. “
